West Wing Week June 24

In praising young elected officials, Obama says the reason to be involved in public service is not to "be somebody" but to "do something." That was recently mentioned in the NYT as the reason why women use power better:
“The shorthand of it is that women run for office to do something, and men run for office to be somebody,” said Debbie Walsh, director of the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University. “Women run because there is some public issue that they care about, some change they want to make, some issue that is a priority for them, and men tend to run for office because they see this as a career path.” NYT
